Brand was the coolest person around in those days except for Buckminster Fuller and possible Wavy gravy from the Hog farm lol
it was a strange time, great music, colorful culture, horrible war.
I am still that simple minded person who is convinced if everyone were just nice to everyone they meet, no exceptions, the world would be a different place. In fact, the older i get the more i see how well it works and what the rewards are. Brand is a wonderful mentor to have. A thinking man.

Maybe i have thought of what would work here that would make both sides of the coin happy. Tell me what you think. Many sites have a "favorites" section where you can put art of others that you like. If we had that, then others could "keep" anyones drawings in that section (where there were no votes or comments) to have to inspire or delight them whenever they wanted. Then the purpose of putting somebody elses draws in your own gallery would be to remix it. I like remixing, i think months ago ppl misunderstood that. i like collab art. I think a fav section would let everyone do want they want and not offend anyone.

To be honest, and admit to being egotistical to a certain extent (I have worked hard to attain my skills) I want views of my work in my gallery. Also if someone views my work in my gallery it might inspire them to view more of my work in my gallery. Let's face it, if one didnt want their work viewed, they would never put it online. I dont think many ever go to the original artists gallery when they see the work in somebody elses. I think that is my issue with the whole thing. I want ppl in my gallery and when I do a draw that took 4 hours I should be the one who reaps the benefits of a persons attention to more of my art, not some person who added a dot to mine. I am being very honest here and admitting to ego. lol Anyhow, what is your view? I do respect your opinion, whether or not it agrees with mine, that what makes the world interesting.

Thanks. Truly. Do you know I thought you were female all these many months? Then i saw your self portrait this week and was very confused!
I have always felt that your personality was reasonably ..uh...straightforward shall I say? :) But there is a quality to your art, a delicate touch, a lot of emotion that I perceived as coming from a female artist. Not that it matters either way :)

I am, for real and seriously, a great admirer of your work. You clearly are a pro in your ability. You do what I find so difficult ...you are able to loosen up and be playful with your work. You are also able to stop! I tend to overwork pieces even tho I know I am. Not sure if it is confidence, impatience or just conscious effort that allows your art to flow so, but I really admire it.

On net communities, this, for me, is a huge social outlet more then a serious art making place. I have yet to work out how to print any of this stuff so it looks any good offline. As an artist and as a teacher i have learned so much here. So many artists better than me that I learn from and so many artists just learning whom I can help along. And just so many simply good people with warm and open hearts. I always stay in one place on the net, it can take years to know somebody well over this medium, so i hang in one spot and let relationships happen. But I always take breaks, sometimes it's life constraints, sometimes I just need solitude.

About the lil dog drawing, oddly, she NEVER barks or yaps. She is as silent as a cat!! She is my sons dog. I am a cat person but a non yapping/barking dog works too. :)

Probably too much work as the users number have increased considerably... They should get students involved to help out with the maintenance...

I don't know that there are things slowing Sketchfu down. What I do know is people are leaving because they are frustrated about a number of things. Matt and Andrew are conspicuous by their absence and maybe if they checked in more often they would be able to sort things out before problems escalated. The last time we heard from Andrew was three months ago and from Matt was FIVE MONTHS ago.

I am AGAINST people taking a brand new drawing that i just did, that has not been seen because it had not been posted very long and it shows up UNREMIXED and unchanged in somebody elses gallery.

that is what I object to. I agree, they are not going to sell it,
I agree it was probably some lil kid who did not know better and will cry when they come back to their gallery. Well they didnt worry about the artists feelings when they took a brand new drawing. I worked over 5 hours , long hard killing my eyes hours on that drawing. I consider it to be my work.

Remixed it is no longer my work, that is FINE. Remixed it is no longer my work. I am cool with remixing.

Yes it says over the draw whose draw it really is. but perhaps I am just a raving egocentric egomaniac who would like people to see OTHER works ion my gallery!!! Once a picture has been viewed, very few will surf over to MY gallery then If they were already IN my gallery then perhaps it would be easy to look at the rest of my stuff. That is what this is about FOR ME. I cannot speak for anyone else here. Those are my reasons. I want my work seen and i want it voted on. See Larvices profile for my reasons why.

Maybe you have a job and alife. Righ tnow i don't. i will freely admit that THIS is my life at the moment.I am here, i am trying out different art styles to get feedback in prep for offline work in the real world., I take this stuff DEADLY seriously. I see what I do here as leading to my future. So yes, i understand COMPLETELY where you two are coming form but I am in a different place. it might be dumb stupid or pathetic and i agree it is probably all 3, but it is a FACT. so that is where i am coming from.

Sorry i mistook that draw to be aimed at me, you can see how that could easily happen.

I've put a lot of thought into it, and I know what my parents say may happen, but I also know that a lot of my stuff I either don't consider actual art, or it's a drawing of a movie scene or of one of my favorite bands that I probably wouldn't/couldn't sell. I have very few drawings I think would actually be stolen (at this point in time).
If I ever get to be more well known, I may take some of my stuff off of sketchfu, and copyright something, but as of now, I like having the commentary from you and my other friends on sketchfu. =]

You know, a lot of the time I think all of these people are taking Sketchfu WAY too seriously. I'm just messing around with my drawings, and that includes the titles. A lot of people read way too much into all of this. It's just for fun, which is why I like it. I can just sketch or whatever, have fun with it, and share it with other people.

Come on over for pie and coffee... Here's a little secret. Weather in Chicago has gotten milder and milder. It used to be brutal - I remember the prolonged days of double digit below zero wind chill factors. But no more. Now the worst thing we have tolerate are th gray days. However, we're a hearty stock and find the seasons invigorating. And Chicago is a magnificently beautiful big city. Come and see for yourself!

Thanks for the lovely comments. i am always surprised somehow when ppl say nice things about how i am, cuz that is just literally how I am. here or real life. i love people and love to make people happy. I like to be happy so when i can do it for another there is great joy in that. It might be selfish. but it is not for the thanks, cuz I dont care about being thanked. I care that someone got a warm and fuzzy feeling or that they felt their art was really valid and god and appreciated. your welcome! you have some nice work, I had been gone for a while doing vacation and some other things, in general needed a breather! I had so many comments to catch up on, it took me 3 days to go through them all! Then I went to check out the recent art here for the week and your work stood out! Nice work, very unique style love it! wish I could be that open and free! lol, if I did what you did, it WOULD look like scribbles! lol, I love it here, the people are great and one of the best online communities I know of! I have a deviant, and a RMD account both with the same name Starzshine under which I post, but I keep comming here for the great people! And the comment forum is wonderful to talk to the people first hand! Thanks for the posting and keep up your wonderful artwork here! looking forward to seeing more!

I love looking at art as much as drawing it, and perhaps equally I enjoy making those feelings known to the artists. I know what it takes, i have been an artist or teaching it forever. I know how good feedback feels, even just anonymous views. I make my art for me, from me, but art really is meant to be shared. So thanks for making some fun art for me to look at!
