|| The balmy atmosphere of the Nursery seemed to allay Brokenkit as the Clearing raged with shrill screeches and hollers of cats as the ambush of SkyClan advanced. Brokenkit trembled with agitation as Silversky coiled her thick tail over him; even she herself had a strong tension over the battle.

A sudden howl rang in the dense air, louder than the rest of the conflict's painful cries. Silversky perked her ears. Sudden curiosity whirled in her mind as a variety of different occurrences played throughout her head, some too frightening to think of for much longer. Startled, the silver tabby's thoughts had been interrupted by a wail:
"Swiftstream's dead! Swiftstreams dead!"
Abruptly, the blaring screams eased. The Clearing fell silent, only with the faint sound of rustling as SkyClan retreated back towards their Camp.
Silversky widened her blue eyes with shock.
"Dead...? But why would they kill our Deputy?" Silversky murmured as a gray tom peeked in the Nursery. His broad face had fresh wounds. One was located on his scalp, the other across his muzzle.
"Are you and Brokenkit okay ?" the tom meowed. His edgy tone was brimmed with concern as he stared at the silver tabby and the brown kitten. Silversky nodded.
"Yes, Coldfire."
"Well we are having a burying ceremony for Swiftstream. Just letting you know." Coldfire confirmed. Silversky nodded again, tucking her tail over the frightened Brokenkit protectively just as Coldfire returned to the Clearing. This left the two in the Nursery, alone, fretting for their Clans safety.

The next day, awakening from a sharp jab to her ribs, Cinderpaw exhaled a heavy moan as she fluttered her eyes open.
"What is it?" she meowed with discomfort. The previous night had left her sore and exhausted, not wanting to have to wake up early the next morning.
"Cinderpaw, get up now! It's noon and Coldfire has been calling for you for ages!" Citruspaw meowed as she shook the gray shecat. Cinderpaw sat up, rasping her tongue across her matted pelt.
"I'm getting up!" Cinderpaw retorted. Citruspaw tipped her head with uncertainty. Cinderpaw seemed oddly grumpy this morning. It looked as if something was tugging at her tail, or had been all night. Shrugging off the thought, the ginger-and-white apprentice spoke once more:
"You and me are supposed to train together. Or at least that's what Lilybreeze claimed, Coldfire too."
Cinderpaw flattened her ears in response. She didn't favor training at all, especially after such a harsh night. Maybe Citruspaw had mistaken what they said?
"Fine, coming..." Cinderpaw meowed. Following Citruspaw out into the busy Clearing, Cinderpaw raised her muzzle and sniffed. Perking her ears, the strong scent of Bumblestar flared in her nostrils. Suddenly, she noticed a flash of brown upon the High Ledge.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the High Ledge for a Clan meeting!" Bumblestar called.

Excited, Cinderpaw bounded over to gather beside her mother, Mossfire, who seemed to have already gathered, and her father Brackenstripe alongside her sister Featherpaw. Citruspaw followed in a much calmer manner.
"Last night, as you all know, we had a tragic battle with SkyClan. We lost our Deputy, Swiftstream during the battle. It is needed I pick a new Deputy." Bumblestar announced. "I say these words before the body of Swiftstream, so that her spirit may hear and approve my choice. Coldfire will be the new deputy of BreezeClan." hoping down, Bumblestar rested his muzzle atop of Coldfire's forehead.
"I am honored to be granted this position, Bumblestar...thank you." Coldfire meowed.
"Coldfire! Coldfire!" the Clan chanted. Coldfire felt a slight purr stir in the pit of his chest. He never knew he'd turn out this successful, and if not this then he knew he'd at least be known as the top warrior of the Clan. The gray tom blinked as Bumblestar pulled away, and returned to the High Ledge.
"That is all." Bumblestar announced, dismissing the Clan with a flick of his tail.

Citruspaw glared over at Cinderpaw, jealousy swelling up in her stomach.
"No fair! Your mentored by the DEPUTY! I'm mentored by some dumb warrior..." Citruspaw fussed. Cinderpaw shouldered her playfully.
"C'mon! She's not THAT dumb." Cinderpaw protested. Moaning, Citruspaw shrugged casually.
"I guess." Glancing over her shoulder, Citruspaw saw Coldfire and Lilybreeze approaching the two of them. They seemed deep in conversation. Was it important, or just some fun talk? Blinking, Citruspaw padded over toward's them.
"We going to start training?" the spotted shecat meowed. Coldfire nodded, and beckoned Cinderpaw to come with them.
"Let's go." Coldfire meowed and headed off towards the Training Hollow.

Trotting throughout the open fields, Coldfire glanced over over his shoulder to make sure all cats were okay. Content, the gray tabby stepping into a sandy clearing. Just as Lilybreeze flanked him, Citruspaw and Cinderpaw arrived chatting unstoppabley. Coldfire chuckled, and padded up to the two.
"Come on! We need to train considering we just had an attack and you barley know any moves. Another ambush could happen again. I wouldn't want either of you injured, now would I? Or you?"
Lilybreeze nodded, approving of what Coldfire had said. The two apprentices nodded too; carefully observing the warrior and deputy as they got into an attack position. Coldfire propelled his bulky figure at Lilybreeze's petite one, pinning her to the sandy flooring. Lilybreeze winded her attacker. The shecat swiped her paw against his scalp; distracting him. Clamping her jaws firmly, yet harmlessly over his neck she flipped him over. Now she had him pinned, and he had himself pressed against the floor. Lilybreeze stepped off Coldfire in an instant.
"We will teach you ho-" a sudden screech interrupted her. Widening her eyes, Lilybreeze saw a bulky white and brown mottled tom grab Citruspaw by the scruff, forcefully dragging her across the ground.
"Citruspaw!" Lilybreeze howled. "Coldfire, help! Coldfire... Coldfire?" glancing around urgently, the tabby didn't seem to notice herself being accompanied by the tom. Breathing heavily, Lilybreeze dived after Citruspaw. Happening to be to late, Lilybreeze glanced over at Cinderpaw who seemed to be motionless. Struck with shock.
"Cinderpaw! Cinderpaw!" not getting a reply, she shook her head. "I don't have time for this... I need to get help!" Lilybreeze clutched her canines into Cinderpaw's scruff, dragging her back to camp. The only thing now seen in her large pupil was dismay and fear.
