~Tohru's story~
(It was the day right before his birthday. He was so excited that his fith birthday was the next day. His parents always throw really big surprize parties, but this time, the surprize was a little different.)

The school bell rang. The teacher was already handing the children to their parents. After a while the room seemed empty since everybody was gone. Everyone, except for Tohru. It was 4:00 and his parents never came to pick him up. The teacher started to worry so she called his home. The phone rang and rang, but there was no answer. Tohru sat there by the door. His techer walked up up to him and asked if he was able to walk home by himself. He just nodded and stood up. The teacher got her stuff and opened the door. "Well, bye!", she said. Tohru just ran home. It was a good thing he lived near the school. When he got to his house he found that the door was wide open. He walked in the door and looked around the living room. There was no one there. He walked into his mom and dad's room. There his parents were, but something was wrong. They looked different. Atleast that's what Tohru thought. He didn't understand that they were murdered in this very room. He stood there in the doorway. Just... stunned...

~Peter's Story~
(Peter's 4 yrs old in this story, just like Tohru. This story tells how he met Tohru and how his parents, well, got divorced)

Peter and his little sister were in the backyard while their parents were inside discussing things. "I think I'll take Peter with me and Cora will stay here with you," his father said. "Yeah, do what you want. I don't care as long as we don't have to see each other for as long as we live," his mother sighed. "When will we tell him?" "When he comes back inside. I want to leave as soon as possible."
When peter came back inside his parents asked him to sit on the couch. He did as he was told and sat down. But when they broke the news to him he didn't want to accept the fact that they were going to have a divorce. "But I won't get to see Mom or Cora!" he said. "That's the point of the divorce. Just think of it as they both died or something."
"What? You really want my son to think me and his sister died?"
"Sure. Why not?"
"Whatever you say."
Peter didn't exactly understand but when his mother left the house and never came back it was clear to him now.

(When they met~)
Peter was sitting on the swing set while all the other kids laughed and played. "Why don't I have any friends?" he asked himself. "It's cause you're weird and have weird hair!" shouted a kid holding a beach ball. "Shut up!" Peter yelled back. The teacher put her hand on Peter's shoulder and shook her head. Peter looked down at the ground. There was a kid behind the teacher. "Who's that?" Peter asked. The person hid. "Oh, this is Tohru! I was hoping that you two would become friends!" she smiled. Tohru was really shy and didn't know what to do. The teacher pushed him forward. "Tohru, this is Peter. Say hi!" Tohru looked at the floor. "Uh, hi?" Peter said confused. "H-hi," Tohru stuttered still looking at the ground. "Aren't you afraid? You're talking to a person that no one likes." Tohru shook his head, "N-no! I'm not scared of you be-because of that. I-I just don't talk to people th-that much." The teacher smiled, "See? I bet you'll become the best of friends!" she said happily. "Yeah, well I bet he can't even relate to me. I bet he has two parents that actually like each other," Peter said frowning. "Well, I did have parents that loved each other." Tohru said looking at the ground again. "What do you mean?"
"My parents died a week ago. So I-I live in an orphanage now. I don't have many friends to make me happy like other people do. I just cry. That's probably why people say I'm a crybaby." Tohru said with tears filling up his eyes. Peter got up out of his swing and walked up to Tohru. Tohru looked up. "I guess you can sorta relate. Sorry, I sometimes judge people." "Sometimes?" The teacher started. "You say that that girl over there must be the smartest kid in the class, just because she has glasses." "Ok. Maybe I judge a lot. Still," He looked back at Tohru, "Sorry. I guess I should stop judging and start getting to know people." he said starting to smile. "I bet I won't be a very good friend but do you still wanna-"
Before Peter could say anything Tohru hugged him. "I forgive you." he said.
