Wow, what are the chances, after all this time to log on 1 minute after you left me your message!! Weird.

Very sorry to hear of your losses. That's very sad, no matter what the ages, and I hope the long lives they both had were happy and fulfilled. I'm glad to see you stop in and have been giving paper more and more thought myself, I even bought a small..very small..canvas. We'll see. Hope you're feeling lots better, the comp seems to be better, so maybe just stop in to say hello when you can. i am ok, school is almost over! :) xo

To be honest, I am depressed. My wacom is dead, I get bad bad pain like carpal tunnel if I draw with the mouse other than sweeping lines, if i do cirlces or detail my wrist kills me. It will be while before a get a new wacom and i cannot draw over at FG with the mouse. Plus my draws with those kinds of tools take me SO long and i am supposed to be getting ready for camp now. I have 4 of the 8 weeks filled (some are over filled) and the other weeks only need a couple of kids to be full and camp does not start til June 16th. Gonna be a busy summer. I will proably start at FG after camp or wheneve ri get my wacom. I cannot do FG, SF and YD tho, Dont know how Suntan and others manage all 3.

How are you, business still so busy? I will try to take a peek at FG to see the work soon.
big hugs.

Hm thanks, and appearently.. no, you're not the only one with that lack of judgement XD I'm glad when people enjoy mmy work but sometimes I just can't believe it, because in mey eyes it's just.. nothing special.. rough sketches getting loads of cheers =O Sometimes I'm just proud of myself, and sometimes I think I honestly don't deserve all the cheers :)

But it's still positive though, I guess. I hope I can improve even more! :D

kingmingus wrote (5 months ago)
you googled me!!! LOL.... the kingmingus name goes back a way...to starting playing InkLink and needing an email account address. I didnt want spam coming to my *home* account so i started a hotmail one. My daughter wanted me to think up a word/name i would remember for Inklink. My husband and i had been out on the motorbike all day, me pillion, and across the back of his helmet is scrawled *kingmingus* as a logo...I figured after looking at that for 4 hours i wasn't likely to forget it...so i chose it for my playername and hotmail account. I have long since ditched it as a player name.Prefering JayEL.....but when someone sent me the link for Sketchfu..it seems FU automatically signed me up under my email name because i didnt fill in a user one. AT that stage i didnt have any intention of ever drawing so i didnt worry! NOW im stuck with it. :( and i dont want to start a new account because all my drawings and comments from people are on this one.
and once again i have rattled on for ever lol see? not a good idea to get me started lol i can talk for hours!

Morning jp ;-D I read your very kind message on my profile & here I am, to say thank you again & to grab a double espresso (is that what you are serving? ;-) & some great convo. My favourite pasttime in lieu of drawing & snapping pics! I need to review yours & so many other galleries that I've just been unable to. We always seem to say ... "Oh, I will when I get the time"... you know, the time we never have! A friend told me once: "That the most special present you could ever give someone is...*Your* time." How very true this is! So thank you very much for yours, I really do appreciate the gift. ;-) L8*

Oh please, don't let me discourage you Joyce from joining Ginko in any way! As a matter of fact, I'm probably headed there in a bit to take advantage of the uploading feature Christina's been talking about. Getting kind of excited, (still a little nervous), about sharing my offline art. Haven't you been after me to find a way to do that? I still haven't had the time to finish my own web page....ugh! And think how special it would be to be able to add digital aspects to drawings!

Okay, I'm nearly hopping in my chair now.....lol. Since I don't paint, I've just been using pencils and cheap colored pencils offline, but, like being able to feel like I'm painting online. So, if I could combine the two?.....I just might become unbearable with bouncing up and down, "Did you see what I did?, didjya', didjya', huh, huh?!"....rofl.

Don't fear though, I'm not ready to throw out Sketchfu. I adore the friendships I've made here and am still more comfortable with the controls here so you'll probably find me here more often than 2draw or Ginko, at least for now.

Hugs atchya'!

Robin
Xina54 wrote (5 months ago)
and NO - the dreaded lag monster wouldn't follow us to Ginko. For a start there are many (mostly kids) who are happy with using Sketchfu as it was intended - purely as a fun/communication site so not everyone will go to Ginko.
Secondly, the owner is an artist who draws regularly on the site and is involved on a day to day basis together with her husband who is the technical expert.
Xina54 wrote (5 months ago)
I'm sorry but there is NO WAY you can consider yourself just a doodler. I believe many people may have started out, like me, just doodling but the inspiration and encouragement helps us to see that we are all artists at heart. The article Miss A mentioned was written my one member at Ginko - it's not an official policy. I have heard that 2draw can be quite judgemental and critical, downgrading drawings to lower categories. I haven't come across any of that at Ginko. IMHO the abiilty to upload drawings from other sites far outweighs any perceived disadvantages.
However, I have high hopes of our campaign to get Matt and Andrew 'on board' so let's try adding a little 'positive thinking' to the mix . . .

Fuzzy wrote (5 months ago)
Oooooo jp, you gotta get that deleted draw done for me by Thursday, its a star trek theme and I have Spock coming for a visit, sorry, inside joke but OMG that would be so perfect! Looked awesome so far from the thumbnail.
Tutorials wrote (5 months ago)
mmm, don't know the answer to that one - I'm no technical wizard. I just put stuff on the Futorial page. I suppose you could try asking Matt/Andrew but I don't imagine you'd get a response. Please tell me if you do.
Xina

PS - spotted you at 2draw

Well, if I'm going to mail it to the New Yorker Magazine.. are you sure I should use regular mail? Pretty long way to go and all that, maybe I could just e-mail it? XD

Although an e-mail doesn't look as nice ^^ Good advices there, but I didn't like the last part =(
Marchinn wrote (5 months ago)
Me too O_O maybe.. or maybe not, well anyway. Trying does no harm, so I'm going to give it a shot. Wondering how I should put it all, so it just doesn't become a lousy: "Hi i 15 i draw SketchFu u add my pixx in paper yes?" =)

Any ideas?
Marchinn wrote (5 months ago)
Well, I can't really argue with that, you've got a good point there. And yes, your taste is awful haha, but maybe you're right.. I discussed with a friend earlier, and I might just try it out, even if it's just for fun. I mean.. what harm could it do?

So yeah, thanks :)
BabsBlueEyes wrote (5 months ago)
It is a sunset outside. The necklace is bold, but not expensive. It is sterling silver with a malachite stone. Thanks for your comment and cheer.
Marchinn wrote (5 months ago)
Still though however, if they get ideas from such a large variety of people, from different countries, from different cultures, with different backgrounds, why choose a mediocre artist who's at the age of 15 and only draws at SketchFu? =)

Doesn't seem very logical to me ^^
Marchinn wrote (5 months ago)
Oh, didn't notice your other message until now :) No I haven't tried anything like that. I do think that I'm quite talented, at least for being my age, but still.. there are so many others out there that have talents far beyond what I can almost imagine (can't believe how amazing some people are)... so I don't think anyone would want my work in the newspaper..

and about.. the New Yorker-paper, you are aware of that I'm swedish right? XD If I did submit my work to some kind of paper it probably wouldn't be that one ^^ *giggle*
Marchinn wrote (5 months ago)
Concerning my drawing: You're half-wrong in it being "funny sad" hahha xD I didn't think it like that when I drew it, but maybe it's a possibility after all :) You can interpret it the way you like, after all.. I didn't leave an explanation telling what it was exactly, so it can be pretty much anything, much more fun that way :)

Anyway, the comment/cheering.. I thought it was pretty stupid just getting on everyones profiles just to write a "thank you" everytime they cheered, so I made that drawing, which is quite obvious by now xD Although I still love to "drop in for a cup of tea" once in a while :P
I do respond to comments that are really worth responding to, and when someone cheers ALOT XD .. or just when I feel like it :) So it's kind of up and down ^^

Funny explanation on the picture there by the way, smart thinking ! Didn't expect it to be so simple :P (This became a very long message O_o)

just read your comment on Gracie's question. IMHO Sketchfu is too limited for anyone with artistic aspirations. Matt and Andrew set it up as a quick sketch/chat system. I have been exploring other sites and think Floating Ginko is the best. Its a small friendly site, run much more professionally. AND it has the facility to upload drawings and photos . . . I won't abandon Sketchfu - at least in the near future as I don't want to lose the wonderful friends I have made here. I'm hoping that if others are thinking of leaving, they will try Ginko. It would be a shame if everyone went to different sites.

That's one of those movies where I start laughing just thinking about it! Yes, my poor yout is lost and lonely ... not me; I'm just pissed off about the tree butchers! I can't believe the law is on their side, but it is. Welcome to Hooterville. Idiots! Christine made a brilliant suggestion ... gather up the acorns and plant 100 of them so that the tree will live on! I would if 1) It wouldn't constitute trespassing to go on their property and 2) The squirrels hadn't squirreled them away already! Ah, well ... Anyway, BIG HUG, Joyce! ;)

I just found a comment from you from three days ago. I have been off my game.LOL Please forgive my oversight. Walked from Cincinnati to Ky. Now that could be a short or long walk. Depending on where you started and ended up. We lived in Cincinnati for a while. Our second child was born there. My Sister lives in Hamilton Ohio. Another two siblings live in Troy. Close to Dayton. Yes I do live near Church Hill Downs. I live in the Heart of the Thorobred horse Areas. Beautiful horse farms all around me. It is Cental Kentucky. I am 25 miles from Lexington and 50 miles from Louisville. This is considered "The Bluegrass Area" I will post a map or a photo. I have been downloading pictures to make a widget for my bebo profile. One of Ky!!! All of your work is worth of all my cheers and comments given. If I didn't think so I would not say so. Each of us have varying degrees of skill and experience. There is ALMOST ALWAYS SOMETHING GOOD TO BE SAID FOR EVERY ART PIECE. You are wonderful at what you do. I love your art!!!!!

My secret favourite (of my own drawings) would be "The Little Sparrow"-drawing, it means alot to me :) It's one of my latest drawings, so you can see it on the "front" page or whatever ^^
Anyway, keep Sketchfu'ing and I'll keep checking your work and cheering and commenting (but you better deserve it, no slacking!) :)

I will have to check it out! I have finished the Book of the DEad, rather stinky, took me forever to finish it, lol, slow going, not bad, just not a great book. Trying to read another cop/detective book and it is rather boring too, I mean how many ways are there to kill someone and still write about it,lol, hope things are good here, I am currently drawing at 2draw.com I made the move because I wanted to do a bit more complicated drawings than what sketchfu affords me to. I really like it there and I am just stoppin by to say hi and send some cheers to everyone here! miss you all though...terry

Hi Joyce! Got your message and I am honored that you presented the gift of the 100th cheer! Gerry is good... I keep in touch with her and so I wouls like to give you my email as well because I am about to become very busy! jill.jjj@gmail.com .... in the event you want to talk! I saw a message from Sun to Ween... something is wrong, don't know what, I'm sure if she wants us to know she will share, in the meantime, I think I will message her with good thoughts! On your new pics... I agree the blue ballerina is the stunner, you do realize that when it all comes together like that, in a few moments, your art has taken a step in a different direction! Congratulations! I recognized that moment and was amazed, I asked Gerry what happened... not understanding, she called it seeing, I think in your respect, that image was so clear in your mind it just popped out. That is stunning work... I also like it as a favorite! Everything about it is perfection. I am thrilled to tell you that I will be starting some private lessons... oils, but we will be using the water based. I met with the instructor yesterday and he reviewed some of my work. He called my work advanced. I was so flattered, I floated all day. I haven't really had much exposure to art instruction since I was a child, but hope that this step will enhance and support my goals to work as an equestrian artist! Let me know how you are JP! I consider you a very dear and very talented friend! Hmmmmm, breathtaking is tooo big for me yet, maybe sometime in the future. For now, I like a few comments and cheers to bring the smiles. And I am smiling! I never have gotten 100 cheers! I am glad that you did what you did! It was special and very meaningful!

LOL, no I did not see your comment. Sometimes I read all the comments when I am skipping through ppls pics and sometimes I don't. Kinda depends on how much time I have. I think I will never catch up with all the draws now. I should just hit delete all so I quit stressing over not getting to all of them. I need to THANK YOU for all of your support and wonderful comments. We are all supporting one another and that is what makes this place so special. Hope your weekend is great!

Hi jp! Thanks for so many cheers on my draws. I am pleased you liked my variation on your 'couplet' ;-) Men are so difficult...uhhhh...to draw, so I made him rather mysterious, haha! Yeah...sure! Anyhow, the lady was drawn so nicely I didn't alter her much at all! Thanks for the picture to bring out some inspiration in us! ;-) L8*

Hi friend! No problem on the comment... so glad to hear from you! I just was in touch with Gerry... she will be back soon, I guess they were out of town. She said she hurt her back a little but would be back soon. So I am relieved. Sometimes I wonder if jealousy and competition may cause some of the verbal sparring... I know I can't stand anyone speaking ill of or toward any of my friends... I simply won't be a part of anyone acting negatively or coarsly toward any of you... I simply turn away from these individuals. I come here to have fun and I treasure the wonderful warmth of the community we have. Don't misunderstand, I think there should always be room for differences and oppinions as long as they are expressed with respect and consideration. I was personally upset by some of the comments directed at Gerry...she does nothing but encourage people... constantly opens up her heart and self to give so much... So any how! All is well Joyce, I am thrilled to have you here so please know that! I am working on a pic that is very challenging for me. I have never once worked on this type of drawing... but there is something in my heart that is pulling this out of me. So I have an hour or so to work before bed. Take care Joyce, you are so very appreciated!
