You can change translucency of a brush by using the < and > keys (you don't need to use shift, so , and . work as well)
There are other useful keyboard shortcuts: [ and ] allow you to change the size of your brush and z and y are for undo and redo respectively. Be careful with using redo though, I have had a few occasions where it changed or added lines or colors in my drawing!
