:l Having them be offended would be better than having them honestly agree with whatever racist joke you say. Down south, they actually mean the racist things they say (usually, anyways). Southern Virginia (though I've only ever been in Northern Virginia) is crazy. It's like a snowstorm down there, and if you're not white, you better watch your back. That's just how things go. I'd rather be a Northerner, to be honest.
