About gerbear
Thank you to those of you who posted my site on your profile. My site is now showing up on page 2-3 on Google!! We have only been up for less than 2 months.
Hope everyone has a wonderful summer!
I am an artist/art teacher from Houston, Texas. I Have been drawing online for about 5 years. I drew literally thousands of drawings at YouDraw. Here are my main 2 gallery links, but I have drawings in many communal galleries too.
http://www.youdraw.com/cgi-bin/recent.pl?artist=gerry+the+art+teacher&rows=1&x=11&y=7
http://www.youdraw.com/cgi-bin/recent.pl?artist=gerbear&rows=1&x=32&y=8
I have a small gallery but with some work I like here at 2Draw:
http://2draw.net/users/gerbear/gallery/
I am trying to learn Photoshop, I have been using Paint Shop Pro for years. I like drawing online for the feedback, friendships and the UNDO function *L* That saves LOTSA time!! Online drawing is a great way to try out ideas, no matter how odd.
I hope you enjoy your stay here, I certainly have!
Oh, and please, don't just steal my drawings. If you want to remix one, by putting real art over it or with it, fine, but don't just erase my name and call it yours. Thanks.

so may you ban him/her? P.S. i was told i am mature do you think so?
Take a good rest, Gerbear. ^_^ Our hard-working mods deserve all the rest they can get. Don't rush, Michael isn't going anywhere. However inappropriate and depressing that sounds, I think I can say it with a little smile on my face. Why is it always the last person on earth that you'd ever suspect that goes? It never fails.
I understand!

Gentle hugs!
Thanks again!
Their my fav characters, the Joker and Jack.
If your a fan of Batman or The Nightmare Before Christmas, you Should really check it out.
If you look at my pics, you should see the entries there. ☺

damarian call'd me a bad word!
I set myself a challenge because it is the most optimistic thing I will have drawn. Usually I knock out a sketch in little time before boredom stes in but with this one I feel it may take a while. I need to discipline myself to make the best I can of it and finish it, if only for the meaning behind it.
A season at art camp would help me along a treat. Hehe.
G.
Your support through my "Good, Bad, and the Ugly" has meant everything to me. Meno, Fuzzy, Christine, and many others, have shown me gteat support and love. Thanks for all you have taught me. I hope to be able to apply the information and add to it. YOU ARE A GREAT ART TEACHER. Lucky me to be one of your students. I am thrilled to be here with the creative and inspiring folks Bless you always Gerry. I am so happy to call you my friend. L~Babs

I left the saying to be up to your imagination, thanks again. :)
thanks for the cheers and thanks for the lovely comments, i appreciate it and i'm glad you like my recent pictures, i never draw people and its one of my biggest weaknesses, so its really good to have so much positive feed back! thanks again :)
and also.. i saw that you comented on the person who stole my sun picture.. thankyou for doing this, the person didnt have my permission and i hope that your comment will get her to delete it. i was about to report it when i saw your comment, so thanks again!
Green
Thanks for the cheers and comment by the way 83
Man, I bet those were some sticky outfits o_O
I can't grow them(^-^;)
There are many cherry trees near my house.
They are so beautiful!
I'll take their pictures for you.
It is necessary to look forward to April next year!
Japanese beach isn't good.
The most beautiful beach in Japan is OKINAWA.(maybe)
I have never been to there.
But I often heard "OKINAWA is wonderful place in Japan!".
I have a reason why I don't go there.
Because I dislike hot weather(T-T)
So I can recommend HOKKAIDO.
Do you know there?
but i still love them!!!
i like the hot-dog even thow hot-dogs are just the leftover parts(you know what i mean) of a pig(or acotionally anothe random animal sometimes even raccoon!) wraped in the same animals (hopefully) INTESTINES! gross right?!
well i guess they shouldent waist it...
lol! they'll have enough to eat.
Thanks for your note on my profile. If I'm correct, you want me to tell some child he shouldn't be copieng stuff like I made with the lady with the low neck line.
But I have to say my English is good enough to understand most of the things being said, but I'm not qiet sure I got everything right you wrote.
If you want me to delete this drawing: no problem at all, if it's too offensive for some.
Please, let me know.
Best regards,
Rogier
3weeks?!
It's very long!!
Where are they going to go?
They'll be not stay only TOKYO.
There now, please don't be so jealous.
Do you like pots?
Something like "IMARI" or "ARITA" ?
http://www.imari-ookawachiyama.com/kamamoto/4/index.html
my nick nema is "kuu"
It means one of my first name,"ä¹…".
ä¹… is read "hisa" , "kyuu" and "ku".
So my nick name is kuu.
I'm glad to hear that(you love Japan)!
Please come my country :)
While resting my 'tennis' elbow from too much 'mousing' around,,, I had a thought. I subscribe to our city's listserve for the arts, and would like to send them your link with a little blurb. If you don't mind. They are a very serious knowledge base for our area, and have strict rules for posting. You're right up their alley so to speak. Who knows, maybe someone has relatives by you or friends, and are looking for the kind of camp you have??? Waddya think?
bye
Yack atchya soon!
You're probably right. There must be something like.. "cooperation" between users and mods. It's not only the moderator's work to prevent such situations. :)
I draw with my mouse too but I'm planing to buy a tablet. It's so awsome to be an art teacher. If I was from USA I'd sure come to your class.
Also thanks for the warm welcoming! I'm a little new (I've been here since last month) and I already saw how friendly users are. I only had one bad experince but I've contacted HQ and solved it :D you and the other moderators are the best!
now I was just wondering...in your description says that you draw online for 5 years; do you use a tablet or draw with your mouse? ^^
http://www.speronewestwater.com/cgi-bin/iowa/artists/record.html?record=2
and you're in houston, we are practically neighbors. i have a brother that lives there, actually clear lake, but it's a fun city to visit.
oh and i love your relish, good subject perspective on the relish, lol.
Thanks AGAIN!! hehe
anyway, thanks for the cheers and all!!
So...while I really appreciate what you do, don't feel pressured to immediately do anything about the defaced drawings just because they're by me. :) I think it's awesome that you're a mod - a lot of people need you, and you do your job well. Thanks again.
That said, I've missed seeing the odd over-dramatic turd wandering about Sketchfu! ;D Just kidding.
I love real jellyfish ,too.
Thank you for your comment.
But why were you called "jellyfish" ?
thank you!
I have felt that FU has in fact helped me these past few months. It is always good to get good review on things your doing and I am actually less afraid now to show my art to others since I joined FU. I even feel more confident about it and that does a great deal of good when one is feeling down.
thank you for letting me know your out there, it gives me great comfort. I have been struggling with depression for few years now, it has gone up and down, but lately I´ve been feeling better, but still I have bad days, even weeks. Its getting further between the rough parts, but then It´s more frustrating when the bad parts arrive. The one has to feel the frustration from one´s loved ones too, that´s even harder.
anyway, thank you again and I will have you in my mind when I have to remind me again that I´m not alone.
Thanks so much for the visit on Ashio. :D I've learned a little more about coloring skin tones digitally and also about light source and completmentary colors. Learning more and more about that sort of thing really helps pull the drawings together. I'm glad you noticed the highlight on the dark side of his hair! ^_^
Anyway, thanks :)
I'm sort of surprised somebody recognized 'ol Stewart. He's one of my favorite people; half of my education came from reading old issues of Whole Earth Catalog, Whole Earth Review, and CoEvolution Quarterly. The stuff he's doing nowadays also really interests me. I guess you could say he's a huge influence on me and kind of a hero.
I don't know if old WECs are worth anything. They were pretty common at one time. They're so great to browse through, though!
Yeah, I was raised by hippies. Kinda. In some senses of the word. :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyrxNRObdXM
because mine did the same thing and it was the pen so give it a shot if you have not done that yet .....
i'll stick with leaving one message or another sometimes...
About your Wacom, did you mention that it sometimes does work? Since the pen does not use batteries, perhaps it is a driver issue, a usb issue or a usb driver issue? If you haven't had it checked out and feel like explaining the problem, I could possibly offer a short list of things to try. IT is one of my main forte's.
love,
bluegymnast
Hugs & pray that I'll still have ears after all the squealing and jammin'! ;)
Yep, Tuesday was my last day and yesterday was the last day of the school year. Cross your fingers for me. They may be hiring for a couple of spec. ed. assisstants for the fall and I already have an app. on file. I should hear something by mid or end of June.
I'm glad to hear that the camp is a go! Just remember to have some fun and keep us posted when you can.
Luv ya'!
Robin
I hope I have not started some major diplomatic row now. Hehe.
aloe-hah from youdraw
Much love my friend! Hugs and Kisses.
Im just joined this site to day please check out my drawings comment please!
And, unfortunately, I'll be drawing another rather obsolete character for a request: Ashio of the series 'Jungle Hare nochi Guu'. I'm sorry, this is really awkward...
I will do so,I would hate to get banned.
person can learn a lot on SF by watching others. I have found that to be absolutly true. It is so amusing to me when newbies say, "I am so jealous of your abilities"
I tell them "you can do it to"! I have gone through a lot of time, energy and trys to get where I am. I am NO WHERE close to being what I want to be!!! A whiteboard artist told me "never look at your work and call things in it "a mistake" Just say "next time I will do this or that"! or, not a mistake "it was a try that did not work" !!! I tell my children that. To your tips. The eyes, I know but I keep repeating the same thing. The skull and thinking about the back of the head. I will need to wrap my head around that. I see in my mind, as I write, an image, hope I can put it to work. The hair, wow..total awesomeness. Also you are so right! Your tips I would go on and not know figure those out. I appreciate with all my heart, the time and effort you give to help me. You are such a kind, caring and giving person. I am blessed to have you as a friend. SF community has helped me through many tough times. I love so many here. The list is growing. It is a place to help and be helped. Thanks Gerry for all you are. L2U and Hugs~Babs
Well, about lovin it part, I cant animate xD

I dont get the zoom and the opacity option jet, but thank you
I've been looking for a job (any job, right now) and was lucky enough to get hired at a craft store yesterday. It's only part time, but it seems like it will be fun and I love being around artsy/crafty people :)
So "how are you" is a good question... right now I am, nervous, excited, worried, adventurous, thrilled, worried (oh i said that)...it's all new to me and i'm liking it :) Plus I've lost 40lbs!! (and counting) So things are...um... great?! LOL
Congrats on your new adventure! I love your around the world theme! Your camp sounds like a very fun place to go. I wanna be a camper there!!!
Keep up the great work and i'll keep checking in (and hopefully drawing). Best of luck and hugs and positive energy going your way!
xoxo
A present? Ooh, ooh, what, what, whaaaaat! :D :D :D

They live in Houston. Hope they contact you. Let me know, my brother's name is Mike McBride

I'm glad you like the drawings, thanks as always, and take care.
Thankies <3
" But in little more than two minutes on Saturday, Mine That Bird went from Canadian Champion to the King of Kentucky after unleashing an epic Derby shocker." (media hype) ;-P
Apparently he is a decendant of the famous horse, Northern Dancer (do you know that name?)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Dancer
The Q.P. is on Father's Day this year and going to be so packed that I hope if we do go, it'll be fun anyhow. There are no seats in the restaurant so we'll be in the regular seats.
Anyhow, thanks again for the gallery visit ;-) L8*
could you tell me the name of the person that looked like my work?...i would love to see it too.>
Hope your well =]

xx
I noticed a big shift in the site, thanks to Matt and Andrew, but the onlt thing now is that I can't replay drawings till the end. even my drawing, and even that last one I cant see it, but anyway as long as you folk see it then I'm relieved :] Thanks again Gerry, hope everything is good with you...
As for the Queen's Plate you asked me about, it is a very famous horse race up here. I've been to a few of them and they are fun and fashionable. I don't wear hats well, so I go without. hehe.
I had my family birthday gathering there last year in Aug. for dinner and regular race. Lots of fun.
If you want to educate yourself a bit on the Q.P. please see this link.
http://www.woodbineentertainment.com/queensplate/
I just got back to sketchfu recently, so I figured I should draw something.
Hugs,
Robin
Well, I'm trying to be back. I've only got a couple of more days that I can sub for
the schools this year so I may have more time for my art for awhile unless I can find
something full time.
How's the art camp coming along? Hope it's going well.
Huge hugs atchya'!
Robin
i ment steal the Idea of that, not really copy it!
besides i tried then faild, it's that simple.
but i seriasly like ur drawings they r awsome!
Heehee, at first I thought my blue drawing might have been a panther or something, but now that you mention it it does seem pretty bearlike ;D
I have thought occasionally that a "fave" section would be nice, yeah. I am also loathe to suggest things that complicate the site, though. *There is a power in simplicity* that it is very easy for websites to lose (disease is called "featuritis"). I'm not sure. I think it would help in a few of the cases that trouble you, but probably not all of them... I dunno. The mindset of somebody who draws very little, or erases a little, and then saves the drawing (without otherwise adding to it) is different enough from my own that it's hard for me to guess what they would do. I think some of them do it to "bookmark", though. One way to add bookmarks without too much complication is just to have a list of drawings one has cheered; after all, that information is stored somewhere already.
Also, you were pretty clear to me that you didn't mind remixing. We had a pretty good conversation about that (you even mentioned your Judy Chicago collab: in case I never told you, yes, I know who she is, admire her work, and I think it's cool that you worked with her.) You made a case that, for you, it's more complex than simple opposition to remixing, which I can appreciate.
There's nothing wrong with page view ego. I can understand that, I have it myself. I've thought about systems for managing that without infringing on important freedoms, but this is turning into a huge essay-comment already. Email me (in my profile) if you really want convoluted thoughts on that.
now I need to get off the internet and go do stuff :)
By the way I think merdragon sounds a bit better..teehee...x3
I did get to talk to Andrew, but it was mostly about information for advertising. Can't make the site bigger and better if you can't pay for it, so I guess that's awesome too. :D He gave me no hints whatsoever...but I didn't ask either. *laughs* I'm positive he'll call you!
Odd, I thought you were on my list too...
hmm, well you are now at least x3
Good to hear you liked my anims! It was lots of fun to make them too. Using Adobe Flash CS3; my uni got a licence for the CS3 package in november so I just gave it a shot, and loving it loads! Still have a lot to learn about animation.. giving weight to a char, lighting, timing.. lots and lots :) But that's part of the fun really, isn't it?
Oh btw, not sure if I've put a link for this one here, but this was my first Flash anim: http://jeroen.dendekker.com/Flash/yellow_snow_2009.swf
The anim took me so long I didn't get to send it till newyear's eve (was supposed to be a christmas card).
If you're really interested in animating in Flash, this link is great: www.keyframer.com. Especially the breeze presentations are wonderful. There's also a really nice forum attached with very helpful (and talented) people.
Give it a shot if you get the chance, it's so much fun :)
Fizzy
I have tried to come back here from time to time but 75% of the time (maybe more) I couldn't even get to the site at all, I thought Matt and Andrew had pulled the plug, to be honest. When I did manage to log on the lag was so bad I could barely look at any pics, let alone draw. But fortunately they seem to have improved things greatly; It'll actually be fun to draw here again! :)
Only thing I have to get used to is that drawings that you delete are automatically gone entirely.. so no deleting WIPs because you don't want anyone to see them yet. If that's what it takes to have Sketchfu up and running smoothly, I'm happy to adjust though :)
Take care, ttyl.
Fizzy
d so does my 12 yr old Savannah. see is showing remarkable talent. Her mother has a "portfolio" o f her work from her beginnings.
Got the letter from Jill. So cool that things are looking up and that the boy's new girl is an art major! Good luck with the show too! You can do it!
Luv & hugs!
Robin
Thanks for the cheers, the continual support, the compliments and constructive comments! Ever tried drawing a Teddy Bear in perspective? THAT I've tried and couldn't do... perhaps we should team up? xD ...or maybe I should avoid working in videogames involving bears =p
Thanks again, and have a great Easter!
Really glad to hear you're okay and have just been busy organizing your new art camp!
Kudos to you and Greta! I did place a link on my profile here and will try and see
if I can't find a site or two elsewhere where I can place it.
Hugs to my friend & Mentor!
Luv ya'!
Robin
Anyway....did you see the news that Meno drew? Chris is well, took a break and busy painting. Very good news...take a look at what Meno had to say, IF you haven't already...and see you soon XO :)
Oh, haha, almost forgot. I know it's hard and sometimes impossible with the lag to visit everyone but ty for the visit to Millefiori..all of the designs you girls have done over the years were my inspiration! :)
People come and people go, eh? I was worried you would never be back. Online communities are really quite fragile: delicate nets, and easily torn. This one has become important to me beyond expectation. The link between people is much more important than the drawings themselves, which after all I could do on my own without the internet.
All of this is a roundabout way of saying "Good to see you, you are not lost on the digital wind that often sweeps people away." You have the friendship of me and many here. I tend to be reserved online (can be both good and ill) but: My name is Stefan and it is good to see you and I hope you draw more. :)
Lots of hugs!
Robin
Just wanted to pop in and say hi & hope you're doing better.
Humungous Hugs atchya'!
Robin
an e-mail at my yahoo addy. Get some rest and get well soon!
Love ya'!
Robin
Robin emailed that you had been asking about me, thank you so much for thinking of me - it's nice to be remembered.
I have been popping in every now and again but life has been difficult from September through December. I am feeling much better recently but can't remember when I last drew anything. Last time I went to FG I was shocked to find Grace was talking about closing the site - I've no idea what happened but she seemed very upset.
I'm using a Macbook now and haven't sorted the pen and tablet so may not be drawing for a while. I suppose I could try with the track pad . . . hmmmm
Much love
Christina
~~x~~
from FG....if I still have it I'll let her know you'd like to hear from her.
Well, I need to go stick my head in the dryer....ouch!....lol.
Yack atchaya' later!
Robin
I used to draw when I was younger, it's been like fifteen years since. As i stumbled upon this site I was marveled by how this site replayed draws. I was sucked in to draw again and with learning the tablet tools I'm developing slowly, calmly, patiently...
So any help is a plus. :) Thanks
Well now, you warned us about what FG might become. You were right. I have all of a sudden been dumped from their studio portion of the site without warning stating that I didn't draw there enough. In fact, that's true enough, I have been doing most of my drawing offline these days. I would've thought that those that called me a friend at any given point would've treated me as such. So, I too am left a little bitter and doubtful I will ever go back.
I am thankful I went there though. I did have a good experience in the beginning and had some fun learning and sharing.
They do have some great applets. I'll miss those, but, thankfully, I still have contact with those I would still call friends. The list may be shorter than I thought, but, in every garden you have to do a little weeding now and then huh?.....lol.
Extra hugs for my mentor.....and friend! Bless you!
Robin
Thanks so much for your support in my art efforts. Your input has been a big part of why I started working so hard. The lovely friends here and then at FG have been wonerful. I grew a lot at FG. All the friends remarked about it. They were all awesome to me. It was a loving, warm, community of friends. It wasn't what G envisioned her site it to be. Now it will be by invitation only me membership. Later

(carved idol) or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; thou shalt not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, punishing the iniquities of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those that hate me; but showing mercy to thousands of generations of those that love me, and keep my commandments.
Take care!
