Happy New Year 2008 everyone!

Like many others, I have not drawn or painted anything since me teenage years. Sketchfu has renewed my interest once again and I have enjoyed "doodleling" over the past several months. Landscapes are my favorite but I do hope to be able to learn the techniques for drawing faces by observing the many artist friends on Sketchfu.

Hi! Yes Gel_O! you are right about some of the crowd at 2 draw. Not everyone, but there is a group of people who can be pretty nasty. That is one of the reasons I don't post there. However, my job has gotten much more complicated... got a promotion and I wasn't blessed with an Asst. so I have twice the work right now, so my free time is seriously limited. I have thought of using their tools for downloading some digital peices and will probably do so at some point. When and if I do, my thoughts are very black and white on the creeps... I could care less what their oppinions are. I don't like negativity and refuse to buy into it anytime anywhere. So, don't allow these idiots to affect you, your art is beautiful! Miss you Gel_O! Now that I know you over there I will browse and send some positives!

I have found that pictures here print out really well on 4x6 photo paper in case you want to see yours off the computer. Mine come out a bit darker, not sure how to calibrate the printer to show what i see on my monitor. That is the weak link in computer art making, getting a true color print. My goal this year is to learn more about it, I really love computer art, faster and you can get all effects from watercolor to pencil to oils. Funny, I used to paint ties too, but more embellishing them with designs and studs and things. Sold hundreds of them tho in the 80's!!

Ha ha, yup. ^_^ I was just thinking about Sam today. My sister was playing Battle for Middle Earth II and I saw her hermit blow Sam away with his staff. T_T It was not pleasant to be reminded of him by that incident. Poor Sam! Don't worry, I will def' draw him!

Sterling was a bit challenging, white is always something to challenge me, but Meno's comment about old gray mares compelled me to portray the elegance associated with gray! No I haven't even unpacked the thing I had wanted so much. It's taken me two almost three years to control a mouse,I have to admit I am not looking forward to another learning curve. I have some time off next week and intend to experiment. I won't tell, so see if you can guess! LOL! :.}!

Hell_o, Gel_o :-) Thought I'd tell you, too, we had storm warnings last night and woke up to an encrusted city. Wet snow that turned into ice pellets. Just a little tease of what's yet to come I guess ;-) I do love snow,(hey, I'm Cdn) but the bitter cold of last year better not repeat itself!! hehe. One of the nicest feelings is driving at night when the snow is piled sky high at the sides of the road. It's like a soundproof booth. You feel so 'contained' and it's such a nice calm feeling. Thank you for your lovely comment on my Notti Bianche. ;-)

Aw, thanks so much! That means a lot to me! :D I wish I had a bit more time, I'd love to watch the LOTR extended trilogy at least every other month, the detail is to die for. T_T I do carry the 'making of' books with me a lot though, especially 'Weapon and Warfare' (a SUPER good book, you should see the wear and tear on my paperback.) and 'The making of the movie trilogy'. All the art books make for excellent research, Alan Lee and John Howe thought out the detail wonderfully before they sent them to Weta Workshop. *gush gush* I just love everything that was put into the movies and story, I'm sure every LOTR fan does. ^_^

Other then that, I've been playing the TTT and ROTK Gameboy Advance games a lot lately... *laughs* Addicting stuff!

I have always wanted to go to Alaska and finally did. we took a floatplane ride (2 actually) rode a narrow gauge train up the sheer side of this HUGE mountain, saw whales, a bear, salmon spawning..it was a dream come true. it refreshed and renewed my tired spirit. Your draw did capture the feeling very well. I like your work very much. Thanks for looking at mine!

lol, I know what you mean about waiting for the art tablet! got a ton of stuff I want to do but am too afraid to do them now, not enough control with the mouse to work the details as I would like, I have trouble even now keeping the times down because I can't get the mouse to work like a pencil or brush so I keep going over areas trying to do on the screen what I have in my head, but it just doesn't work! And yes my kids think I am rude, when I don't get off the computer when I am in the middle of a drawing when they come by, lol, sorry, but now is MY TIME! they'll get over it! lol. have fun and be as addicted as we all are! you only go around once!

I have a dear friend who lives in Portal Ga, just outside of Savannah I believe it is. Love it there in Ga, beautiful. I read your profile and I too, haven't done any art in years and years, and this computer stuff has breathed new life into a passion I thought was gone for good, after raising a family. And it is so funny, it is my santa wish too, for a wacom tablet! I am amazed that you're art is done with a mouse, great stuff, love it. I love to do landscapes in oil, one of my favorites, but for some reason I don't do too many here, probably because the human form and expressions are what drives my art, I love the emotions they tend to evoke. I loved life drawing in college, it was one of my favorite classes, but some of my best work back then was in graphic design. It's a little hard for me to do that kind of work here with a mouse, can't get the precision I need, but hey I ramble! thanks again for your cheers and comments and keep up with your inspiring works!

It's enlightening in ways. By the way, touchpads are officially horrible. I never use them to replace a mouse in regular computer use if I can help it, they're that uncomfortable. Sometimes they just don't respond to my hand, so frustrating! I hope you get a tablet s
