About Xina54
thanks for all the fish . . .
Well it seems the campaign to save Sketchfu hasn't worked. We've had no response from Matt'n'Andrew for months. Thanks to everyone who got involved but I can't see it getting any better . . .
I have been drawing at Flying Ginkgo for some time now while making every effort to stir things up here to no avail. Ginkgo is a wonderful site, the owner is an artist herself and very committed to the site. They have a facility to upload the drawings you have done here (or anywhere else) so you won't lose any of your work. I also have an account at 2draw as a few artists from Sketchfu have gone there but Ginkgo is much smaller and friendlier. I'm hoping that if more follow we will be able to hold on to the wonderful community spirit we developed here.
So if you want to have a look for yourself…

A very special thank you all the wonderful friends I have made here and everyone who has cheered my drawings - I feel honoured that you have taken the time to look at my drawings and liked them. I really appreciate it and want you to know that without you I probably would have given up on my ambition to make drawing a daily habit.
Thanks again
love

bear hugs!
Thanks for the cheers on my Arabian Horse. Trying to get out of my confort zone. Reach for new things. I appreciate your time to look and cheer.
I hope to get to ginko to make comments at least soon but I felt I wanted to catch up here first. Since everyone left I am actually catching up a bit here *L* I know the drawings take longer to do at FG so maybe that will be easier. It is much easier to scroll thru one studio and see all the new art then hop from gallery to gallery. I will email you soon. big hugs.
Seriously though, just wanted to show a portrait I drew recently to Gerry as she asked me about it. It does make me feel a bit self-conscious though, as if I'm walking around with somebody else's face, so I think I'll change it back soon. Plus, the girl whose portrait I drew hasn't given her consent to me using it as avatar..
I'll check out Ginkgo...thingy (well, that link you sent that I can't remember just now ;) I've looked at 2Draw earlier but I didn't really appeal to me for some reason, not the way Sketchfu does. And lag does seem to have improved, can see other people's profile again too.
Oh well, guess we'll just wait and see what happens.
a tutorial thingy. :)
a lot to learn there and all my friends are not there yet. I don't anticipate a change here. Those young fellas just have other fish to fry. Thanks for answering my cry for help!
sending it now! :)
Do I have to register twice at FG? I uploaded the majority of my stuff in the My Gallery, but, can't get access to draw?
Confused & befuddled,
Robin
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly and for "getting it".
I've been signed on to 2draw since this morning, as well as sketchfu, and can't find the inspiration to draw on either.
Think I'll take a break, do some laundry, and maybe come back later and add Ginko as my 3rd and newest draw site. I would like to have a place to put all my work both online and offline. Might even encourage me to finish some of my offline stuff instead of putting it off....lol.
Thanks a bunch!
Robin
Thanks for the comments on 2draw too. I really apprecciate it. I know you really love Ginko so I went and took a looksee. Not sure I would be a good fit there from some of the comments made concerning doodlers versus serious artists. I think I more fall in with doodlers, drawing more as a "hobby" or as a stress reliever. There's so much about art I am learning for the first time. I may never develop the skills to be really good. I just see it as an extension of self that I needed to embrace whether I get good at it or not. I do like the idea of being able to upload my offline work though. I'm usually prouder of my pencil sketches than I am of my digital art, but can only show that off here by reducing, (distorting), and using them as profile pic's here...ugh! If I understand it correctly, I could upload my sketches there and add to them? That would definitely be the biggest reason for me to use Ginko so it may happen yet. Haven't ruled it out, just not sure how everyone else there would feel about "embracing" my efforts rather than picking it apart. I'm still rather insecure and touchy about my art. To me, they mean alot, they're all treasures and pieces of me, good or bad, just part of life's journey.
I do welcome your thoughts on it. If you feel I've misinterpetted something, please do correct me. I'm open to suggestions and other ideas.
Keep those colors flowin' & hope you're having a Happy Easter!
Robin
I also saw your comments at the other site after I found you at 2draw. I did go there and look at your gallery. I only saw the pbs (?) program, and I have been using the Laschuex (?) program. My spelling is atrocious. I may try it there just to check it out though. Gerbear has really been trying to get folks to go somewhere else tho. She has a real distaste for 2draw. They are very critical there. (like I was on your portrait, which I should not have done as I do not like it myself, but as I said I thought you were asking for advice....so sorry)
Take care dear lady and keep drawing....you are wonderful.
You asked about other things I did with perspective, and there's a few:
One point perspective:

Two point perspective:

And here's a better example of perspective shadows:

Hope what you were looking for is in there somewhere!

also, i've got a not-as-great-as-luthien's-stuff-but-stil-pretty-helpful on styles of drawings tutorial, somewhere in the jumbling mass of random draws in my profile.

I think starzshine might have been referring to Fg with anote she wrote me and i just extolled its virtues to QT at 2draw. if we decide to go i think we can get a nice group to follow.
