About Fizzylicious
I'm 199cm tall, slender build. Rather shy.
I'm an aerospace engineer but I have always loved to draw, just needed a little push and an idea to get me started. Sketchfu has provided me with both, so now I'm completely hooked :)
I've been away for a long time now, starting to draw a bit more so if Sketchfu behaves I'd like to come back here again..

about the hair. I never give critiques unless the artist brings something up or asks. I agree there is an issue with the hair. But it is easily fixed. the area around the face, the hair that is the underneath the outer layer of hair part, it is always very dark. It is on the underneath side and never gets as much light. That will help right away. then if you just add some individual hairs and a bit more light and dark areas. in a picture, no one part is less important than another, including the background. the rest of the pic is in perfect focus, except the hair. so it is better to "fake" it for the sake of the drawing then be a slave to the actual photo.
I said this on my Reach draw. At a certain point, your drawing has become a thing. A real thing in reality. At that point you can begin to interact with that thing and it with you. If you are unhappy with any part of a draw ever, then address that concern, even if it means departing from your source which it probably will mean. In my draw I really wanted some kind of fore or background but it just would not work. Hope that was helpful. *L*
I know what you mean about finding command options that you didn't know about. *g* It sure makes PC life easier, doesn't it? ;) If you like, I can send you the links to the fan-made games. They're legal since nobody is making money off of them...and they show a ton of artistic talent. But that's only if you have time. ^_^ Once the games get a hold on you, they won't let go until you're completely finished - very unhandy.
Sometimes when I like a picture well enough, I put it in my DeviantArt gallery. It's a nice way to beat down some of the weeds so I'm at least a little recognized when I end up needing the gallery for real.
Thanks for the tips. I don't work too much with layers. I had just begun about the time I left 2draw. I find layers too confusing on photoshop but was able to use them on 2Draws program. I loved them so much i did a drawing paying homage to the Layer God *L*
I'm glad you liked the sketch, it was fun. It resembles how I play my Gameboy...though it gets very cramped laying like that after a while. Is he playing Super Mario Land 2? ;)
I love your new avatar - although that's not what I expect a 32 year old male areospace engineer to look like;-)
If you want to upload more of your artwork for everyone to see you can do so at

Quite a lot of us from Sketchfu are there now as we are fed up with the lag here.
I'm also amazed by skin. It reflects every color of light and yet is still soft-looking. On a lot of cartooning, the reflection of colored light only appears when an intense light source is somewhere close (in the character's hand, above the character's head, etc...) I try to only use that on my own style...I'm not brave enough to try it on any manga or anime characters yet. After all, it's the first time that I've really drawn those two, I don't want to completely mess it up with my 'wonderful skillz'. *g*
I'll try and improve it a bit. It still makes me angry that my monitor won't cooperate, it's brand new! *rawr* New monitors are silly!
Would also love to see art based on your trip. I did China in camp one year and we built a hilly landscape and used air dry clay to make the great wall, when all were put together on a big table it looked awesome!
Sorry bout the food poisoning! Tho seeing pictures of some of the markets i am not surprised!
I've tried using orange before. It's effective, but easy to overdo - the same with red. Softening up the highlights is a good idea (or not adding them at all). Anyhow, cartoons always look best when they're animated. It's the only thing that can truly breathe life into a cel-shaded character. Actually, Al reminds me a bit of you. ^_^
I re-calibrated my screen, but Sketchfu, my desktop, my laptop, Photoshop and my printer don't agree on any of the colors. Ed did look...uh...dead when I printed the pic. T_T Gaaah... Please help me out here if you can.
Funny comment about RAMbear as I was thinking the same thing and considered dressing him as such! *L* But it is past 4:30 so I let it go.
I'll take a look at your pretty dragonfly and warrior when I can snag the chance. I need to get off the computer before I shrivel up and die. >_>
I know that the white lines between the bubbles were bothering your engineers mind, so i have put up my reference photo and you can see for yourself that indeed, some bubbles have very white lines inbetween.
I think part of the beauty of art is that it makes us look at ordinary things we might otherwise miss out on. Hope this was helpful. Please post on my profile once you have seen this as I only have it up to show you *S* Hope all is well in your world *S*
Hi Fizzy! Sorry it took so long for me to get back and say Thanks! I am very appreciative for the cheers and time people take to look at my work. I feel it is important to try to look through the work posted that comes my way and sometimes I get behind, so again sorry for the delay, but please know my appreciation for your cheers!
Thanks so much for all the cheers!
