please note, when you first open up a drawing page with the middle sized pen it wont fade at first, but if you choose another size pen then press < or > it will go more opaque or more transparent.. also if you right click with your mouse you can zoom in and out...I think there is a gallery called sketchfu tutorials which explains..

To fade colours press > to make it darker and < to make it lighter
