Hey there Xina. Sorry I took so long in replying. I'm very busy at school these days and dont have any time to be doodling in here. As for your painting. Uhm well. THe thing I see right of is that the face on the left is too small for the body it is on. The forhead on the right figure should be a little higher As for doing faces just keep in mind the basic rules. Distance between the eyes for example should be one eye between. Also there is a helpful rule of thumb regarding faces and that's the rule of thirds. The face can be exchanged into aprox three parts. One at the bridge of the nose, second at the eyebrows. Thus splitting the face into three even parts. Hope this helps you. Keep up the good work. Looks good so far!
truth be told, you have first set the tilt of the head, and the eyes and mouths and noses on both faces don't quite line up with the tilt. That is why sometimes people put in the registration lines that help "place" the features on the face. your faces "tilt" to either side, thus the features of the face must follow suit. The features are set for a face that is looking "dead on". The one on the right, is a little closer to the tilt of the face, the one on the left, the smile, even though it apears to be a "crooked" smile is not inline with the tilt of the head and that is what is giving the illusion that the rest of the face is off. the left side of her face would be showing more than the right side, that again is giving the illusion that it is "off". Even though it is tilted to the left, there should be some foreshorting going on and would make the right side of the face farther away from the camera angle. Therefore the features will be closer to the right side of the face at an angle pointing down and to the left just slightly. It tends to be just the opposite of what we think we see...hope this helps a bit.
the distance between her eyes might be a bt short- or they are slightly too big- wish I could see the photo its based on- usually the distance between eyes is an eyes width- but it can vary...centers of eyes usually line up with the corners of the mouth- but this is a generalisation...
OK - something is wrong with Rianne's eyes ( the one on the left). Face needs to be a bit wider chin?? Angie looks OK so far. All suggestions welcome . . .
