You know what Gerry... I am a little afraid of messing with this, I don't know if I'll get it right, but I will give it a go this week at night after work.
Looking at this again. I like the rise of the flag like the mountain and they horse heading to it, so maybe another solution is to get the horse out of the dead center, that is supposed to be compositional rule but I break it all the time. Let it be closer to the mountain and move that moon to the right side, it might balance then.
I think those are great suggestions and I think the position of the horse could be more in a gallop toward the viewer. I am going to experiment more when I have time. Thanks Gerry!
yes, if you really want one. compositionally you have 3 objects leading the viewer off the page. The flag rising on the left, the very bright moon/sun and the horse facing that way. so i look from right to left and then my eye falls off the page. I think if the moon and the rising flag were on the other side it would balance the horse facing out of the picture. I would also tone the moon down,. It takes my attention away from the horse which is the focal point. I like the flag so well because it is subtle. This could easily work as a magnificent painting with those few changes. :) also, they do it weird here and dont respond on the drawing so i forget to look back. I like this better, the other way gets confusing cuz ppl respond on your profile instead!
