I have to admit, I knew about Peter Lorre but, didn't have a clue who Buster Keaton was. I looked him up and found the pic that inspired this and .....
No, not peter Lorre, it is indeed Buster Keaton. His hat should be the give away. Sorry EC my first comment was so confusing. It is Buster tho, not Peter.
I thought it was Peter Lorre at first and then someone else; reading the preceding comments, its confirmed. Honest opinion: This has a different feel to your previous mouse-drawn works. Seems 'lighter' (as in weight)--probably not quite as detailed or as dynamic. Could be the ref. pic you used--I can't be quite sure; but it didn't hit with the same degree of 'punch' as your other works. I believe it has to do with the fact that switching from the mouse to tablet does feel awkward in the beginning and that may have been attributable to the 'timid' feel of this drawing. But on another note; I can see areas within the picture where the change to the digital pen has given you more control and you were able to incorporate a little more control than with your mouse. Like Centaur commented, it takes a little getting used to---for me, it was like 3 drawings or so to where I felt like I'd made a great, solid investment and very happy to own the tablet. So, with that said, I will be looking forward to more GREAT art from you, my friend!!!
Peter Lorre 1904-1964
The one I drew was a comedian and lived...1895-1966
So, they are extremely similar eras. The whole time I was drawing this one, I said to my self, "Self, this looks an awful lot like Peter Lorre", but Peter was in more horror flicks than this comedic actor. The hat was a trademark of his.
Well his eyes look a little off, but that's not so much the tablet as just an oversight (which I'm sure will be fixed when you get used to it and will be able to draw without paying attention to your hand and instead will be able to pay more attention to the drawing itself). Other than that, the shading and composition and EVERYTHING looks great. I am very impressed once again. :)
