I'm glad you agree. That is why I'm going to post links to art that has violated the rights of the original artists so that we can gather some of this data. This includes drawings that have been defaced or copied or claimed as someone else's:

Well I could give numerous examples of having my work defaced, not only defaced but taken from this site and put on others under someone else's profiles, while some people give me proper credit, others have taken them and implied that the artworks were their pieces of art. We work hard and long on some of our stuff and it is just down right rude to deface works of art. On another site someone has highjacked several of my pics as their own, that is why there are so many views, on one site it is referred to as "my favorite art" on another it is viewed and left for people to think that that person is "Starzshine", while I realize there is nothing we can do about right click downloads, there has to be something done with the defacing of pictures on this site, or as others have posted, downright stealing. Seems petty, but there should be an approval mode that "new" art must first be o.k.'d by the origional artist before publishing, where we could perhaps get a notice that the person would like to "add on" and seeks "publishing rights". Then we can view the picture and give the final ok. Or when we make our pictures and go to publish we have the option to keep our picture open or closed.
I do agree with you Torchwood, but that could have been done even without the download button. It just made it easier. Defacing is really important too and which is more important is up to each person to decide. Either way, there should be a way to control this sort of thing INSIDE the Sketchfu community at least, even if we have no control over the things that go on outside. Though you may have different concerns, I feel that at the end of the day we’re still fighting for the same thing – a way to clean up this sort of thing.
Sunsi - I really do agree with you. When you change art up in a respectable way, I'm fine with that, but Hitler mustaches and erased signatures are really, REALLY inappropriate. Torchwood is right to say that people can still do it, but maybe we can put more regulations on people doing it in Sketchfu.
AnimalFantasy1, changing things up is okay. Rogier, for instance does it all the time because he KNOWS that I don't mind his changes. In fact, I like what he does with my pictures - he makes them funny. He's good at that. But when you TAKE someone's picture and change it a LITTLE, it's not fine. Even if you make small changes, the original artist should always be mentioned and his/her signature (if present) should be kept. Otherwise it's called plagiarism, and that’s unacceptable both on Sketchfu (however primitive some may or may not think this place is compared to others) and in real life. These people should try getting away with this sort of thing at work or in an art gallery or whatnot. It’s just morally wrong, it’s unethical, and that is why I am asking Matt and Andrew to consider helping artists who don’t like their work being taken from them.
Sure its happened to me, but with the instant download button anyone anywhere can grab it and stick their name on it or use it how they want. My issue is more with the defacing of them on this site especially the pornographic addons.
ok, the mustache adding is still bearable, but when noting new is added, and the signature changed, THAT'S pissing me off.
But I have to say I still wouldn't like to see the mustache works published.. bleh, too tired now, getting all cranky.
