1. Bring tons of money. Usually, 2-3 months before the convention, I would save money and put it in a box. This is totally worth it, considering you will see the most awesome figmas, charms, stuffed toys, etc.
2. Do pre-reg ( pre-registration ). It will be cheaper than the "at-door" price and you can receive your badge in the pre-reg line. This makes everything faster so you can get to your panels and the dealers room. If you don't pre-reg, (I usually don't :P) be prepared to wait in a long line of people.
3. Bring something to amuse you. As I said before with the long line of people, you will get bored. Gaming devices, a pack of cards, a book, anything will make time go by faster. Plus, when there's nothing to do, you can use these things later on in the convention.
4. FOOD. Bring snacks and a water bottle. You WILL get sweaty and hot, so a nice cold water bottle comes in handy. Crackers or something light should cover you when you're hungry, but can't get to the food court/restaurant yet.
5. Camera/video camera. Any sort of device to take pictures/videos with. You will regret it when you forget to bring it. There are a ton of awesome cosplays out there.
6. [ FOR COSPLAYING ] Spare hair accessories/makeup/safety pins/womanly products (ahem, you understand right?)/etc. These are highly recommended to bring. Even the most secure of costumes can rip anytime. Always keep in handy.
Now that's done, here are little pointers and tips:
A. Have fun! Don't be afraid to ask the staff questions. They will help.
B. Stick with your friends. Don't lose each other. (I regret this happening to me ;A;) If you're going alone, make sure you're safe.
C. Take tons of pictures!
D. If you're a person who likes to give free hugs, go for it. Tons of people do this. They even sell badges that say "FREE HUGS" for $1-$3 (around that price range) Just make the right choice on who to hug. There are some pervert creepers out there. . .
E. Some people offer free candy. I encourage you to take some unless it looks unsafe. (I usually take free candy :P) If you see it packaged and wrapped from some sort of package, it's safe. People there wouldn't want to poison others. D:
