Lest We Forget. It means we will never forget. Today is probably the most important day in Australian history. ANZAC Day. ANZAC stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps. Today is the 97 th anniversary of the day of where the Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed in Gallipoli in Turkey to fight the war. Over 8000 Aussie soldiers were killed in World War 1.

The Dawn Service.
The Dawn Service is where people around Australia and New Zealand get up and go to a gathering. At some Dawn Services they launch a cannon. I have been to one where they did. Afterwards at major Services they have a march. A parade of all the diggers with their families by their sides. Nearly 100 years on, the veterans in WW1 are getting lesser and lesser. The parade marches on.

The Last Post.
A bugle is played, the last post sounds. Followed by one minutes silence to commemorate the soldiers that died in the war. The last post was sounded at the end of the day. The last post signifies the end of the days events.
The poppies.
The poppies were a big part of the scenery at Flanders Fields where they fought. Poppies are a bigger part of Remembrance Day though. Read the poem 'In Flanders Fields'.

So dont forget, The 25 th of April is ANZAC Day. Listen to the Last Post and have a minutes silence afterwards.
Lest We Forget.
