I think its a little overdone, if man "evolved" it wouldn't just be an adolescent boy with scales and claws. Humans probably wouldn't evolve at all or be completely different. The idea of anyone surviving after a world-wide nuclear war is kind of absurd, yet fascinating.
Alright, so lately I've been thinking that at some point in the future, (several years from now at least) I'd like to try my hand at writing and illustrating a comic/graphic novel type thing. So I've been brainstorming story ideas for the past couple of days, and I came up with these guys. There's no actual story yet, just a setting and a bit of background information, but one of these guys is going to be the main character.
I didn't think I would, but I actually ended up coming up with something I like, so I'd like to hear what you guys think of it. Nothing is set in stone yet either. All of this is subject to change. o3o
So the here's the history of the story:
Long, long ago, countless wars and conflicts drove humanity to blow itself up with nuclear weapons. In the midst of nuclear warfare, the government unveiled an underground sanctuary, deep beneath the earth, which they believed would be able to shelter a good portion of the remaining humans from the nuclear attacks and nuclear radiation that would follow.
However, due to limited space, one was required to buy their way in if they wished to enter the sanctuary. And thus, the rich were able to flee underground to safety, while the poor were forced to stay above ground, subjected to nuclear strikes and radiation.
Several millenia later, the fragmented scraps of humanity that remained above ground during the nuclear strikes has managed to survive, evolve, and adapt to the extremely barren, radiation soaked environment in which they live.
Seven different sub-species of evolved human exist above ground. They are, from most intelligent/least radiated to least intelligent/most radiated: The Proud, The Envious, The Lustful, The Sloth, The Greedy, The Gluttonous, and the Wrathful.
The creature pictured above are members of The Envious. The second most intelligent, and second least radiated sub-species. They're capable of speech, and intelligent thought, and when they're not hiding from surface predators, they're scouring old, ruined cities for remnants of technology to tinker with. Occasionally, they'll get lucky and find actual functioning equipment, such as hologram projectors, vehicles, or weapons, but such finds are extremely rare.
The Envious are relatively well adapted to the surface world environment. While they normally walk in a bipedal fashion, it is not uncommon for them to temporarily switch to a crouched, quadrupedal method of locomotion, which allows them to run faster, and jump much farther. They tend to tire out quickly when moving like this, however, so most prefer to walk upright when they're relaxing.
The ground where The Envious live is mostly dirt and rock. There are a lot of large hills and mountains, which The Envious will normally dig tunnels into the top of to keep safe from predators. They use the claws on their hands and feet for traction when climbing, and will also strike out with them as weapons if they feel threatened. However, they aren't ones to stay and fight in a dangerous situation, and will normally just drop to all fours and sprint away if they're attacked.
The environment of the surface cannot support large communities of organisms, so rather than amass into a single, large civilization, The Envious live in small, family groups. They try (and often succeed) to avoid conflicts among families.
The Envious also maintain some relationships with The Proud, the most intelligent, least radiated, and least animal-like sub-species. The Proud provide knowledge and lessons in oral and written language to The Envious in exchange for books, and other written media that The Envious have managed to salvage from the remnants of cities.
The Envious are the only sub-species that I've fully mapped out in my head so far. Besides The Envious, the Proud, and the Wrathful, I only have faint ideas about what the occupations of the other members of the sub-species are going to be. The reason I'm focusing on The Envious so much is because the main character of my story is likely going to be one of The Envious. ^^
But yeah. That's what I have so far.
Let me know what you think? ;u; <3

The idea is really creative, too. Keep at it owo
I like the posture idea... it's very interesting. And how they can go on all fours is a weakness of mine. >u> Love those legs.
Can I steal him?
-grabs and runs- >w>
(For those who got the wrong idea, I like the IDEA, not the sins)
