woah.... amazing! i really like this pic!
well it just goes to show just how big sketch fu is cos ive only just stumbled across your work, but i must say, your draws are really awesome. i love how simple you make it look :)
I am going to Alaska next week and so I have wild life and especially bears on my mind. From the thumbnail, I thought it was a bear. But then, and this is funny, the title threw me off, I took it to mean this person lived with this dog for a companion and so thought it was a dog then *laff*
Wow. That old saying, art/beauty is in the eye of the beholder... ECs comments were, as usual, thoughtful and passionate. He's obviously thinking about the plight of fight dogs right now so he looked at the drawing and saw a dog. So did Evamaritha. Gerbear and christinemb saw a bear. That must be what they were thinking about, however, christinemb nailed it when she broke down the composition of the piece. Here's the truth. I was drawing a bear. When I finished, I looked at it and saw both. Instead of explained what it was, I hit the PUBLISH button and thought, "Let's see what this evokes in others." The only hint that it was a bear was in the title...Honey, I'm home...

Anyway, thank you all for giving your interpretation of what you see in this piece. Every time you take the time to comment, it is appreciated.
I lovely drawing and a lovely dog. A dog to miss when you´re notat home =)
beautiful drawing, but to me it looks more like a bear than a dog, it might just be the foreshortening of the muzzel? but as the head is very wide in the skull it does look bearlike... (hope you dont mind me saying?)
Beautiful and once again you captured the animals essence, made them real. I also love your loose style.
Tonite I watched an episode of "Real Sports" with Bryant Gumbel on HBO and one of the featured stories was about Michael Vicks, an NFL player who was recently charged with operating a dog-fighting ring. The report went on to uncover truths behind this old "sport" (which I would never in a million years give it validity as a sport) and how fighting dogs are bred, raised, trained and fight. It was enlightening but yet deeply disturbing. As much as I love animals, especially dogs, it really sickened me to realize that there are people who are drawn into this cruelest of endeavors (in my opinion, that ranks next to genocide and torture) for their thrills and to make a few shameless dollars doing so. Anyway...I'm so glad to know that there are dog lovers all over and your drawing confirms its galantly!!!! Seeing this picture has helped me to take focus away from the truly despairing knowledge I'd been so unfortunate to witness; on the second thought, perhaps I was actually fortunate to have witnessed it because it gives my eyes and heart an added level of sensitivity to horrors that mankind is capable of delivering to poor, innocent creatures. Thank you for a wonderful and such a timely drawing. It has touched me on many different levels.
