Mr and Mrs Silver were proud to be a very normal family, thank you very much. And they sure did hate cats. Mr Silver called them, "little balls of fur who meow too much" while Mrs Silver called them, "furry fleabags". They never actually met a cat face to face, but they just hate them because they always hear of them running into your gardens chasing a mouse or hang out outside your gate with a face that doesn't care.
The Silvers's neighbours, the Pures, had a cat who gave birth to three kittens and the Silvers were suspicious about the jet black kitten who looked the darkest out of the kitter. "She looks like a scrawy old thing", Mr Silver would say to his wife.
"Never before had I seen such a skinny one", Mrs Silver would agree.
Their lives changed familiar when one stormy night, they found a basket outside on their doorstep. As they brought the basket in, they were determinated to see what was in it. They unwrapped the blankets and stared inside the basket, their faces clouded with shock.
It was that black kitten from nextdoor!
