Sadie is a normal house cat, in Tokyo, she lives on the edge of town, and is always pampered by her rich mistress, The Countess.
So, when the Countess dies, and she's left alone on the musty streets of Japan, she thinks it's all over, going over and over in her mind is the reel of story about her kitty hood, about a moonth later she lies down to die, and a handsome tom cat (Thusko- pronounced Tuskoo)come's along and rescues her, he shows her the laws and tricks of the street, the two cats soon fall in love, then when it seems everything's going well, the two start to fall out, they're walking along one day, when a band of rogue cats come along, they manage to scare most of them off, but suddenly a muscular rogue cat jumps at Sadie and of course, Thusko jumps to protect her, he manages to push the tom off the bride they're on, but the tom reaches out and drags Thusko down with him.
Sadie is overcome with grief, thinking her beloved Thusko is dead, she wanders for days, tears streaming down her face, she's so overwhelmed that when she comes to a beach, she wanders into the sea, believing Thusko's out there, she keeps swimming, swimming, the water laps over her face, and she begins to drown, when she fished out by a fisherman. She's unconscious by this time. The boat streams back to Nagasaki and before long she's roaming the streets there, the cats there aren't too friendly though, and they capture Sadie, not pregnant with Thusko's kittens. They decide she's too pretty to be locked away in the cat prisons they call the Chamber of Fugi, so they bringher before their cat ruler, who decides to make her his oldest sons mate. Just as the vows are about to be made(with Sadie having no choice) Thusko appears, soaking wet. Sadie spins round, and it turns out Thusko was thrown up on a shore, where he heard from a friend that Sadie had been sea-lured, he had searched cities for her, an finally found her!
He fights the cats and runs of with Sadie...
And then her son, Tighai is born.
