Late...I am not good at detecting whom the original pictures are by, and when I came across this on someone's portfolio, I commented on how nice it was and cheered it, then noticed that it had the "drawings based on this" or whichever...and I think I came to the conclusion that
you are the original drawer. I apologize and I will go back and take back the compliment from whoever that was that took it and put it on their portfolio. That doesn't set right with me when someone does that and only puts a dot or something on it and publishes it

OK..I know you hate all those 3 cheers, but as always, these are not friendship cheers but I like your artwork cheers. I don't do landscapes and greatly admire those who can.
This is SO lovely! and I must insist you stop saying you are not an artist! You obviously need to re-define your interpretation of the word 'artist'. Nowhere does it say that you have to draw all day, or that you have to make a living with your art. Someone who tries to draw everyday IS an artist in my book! - and you would be classed as an artist even if you didn't. You put a lot of yourSelf in your drawings and you really shine through!
About competition - I know what you mean, if winning is the only reason for competitng. Over at Ginkgo I have entered their Jam as the subject matter is close to my heart. It's not just about the drawing - it's about a musician who has made an vital impact on your life. It's wonderful to see all the different musicians represented and also the stories that go with them. It has coaxed a lot of people out from the shadows and inspired them to attempt a subject that they may not have thought of alone. I know I would never have done the portrait I've entered without the Jam - and I have to say I am SO pleased I did. I am amazed at how much I have improved since starting to draw here eight months ago. I think there are at least 30 or so entries so far . . . which is really quite impressive given that there is such a small number of regular artists. Of course, their ranks have been swollen quite dramatically by all the reFUgees who have left Sketchfu. If you would like to see my entry and read my story please see:
http://studio.floatingginkgo.com/jam/index.php?artist=Xina54 Apologies for putting all this on your drawing - I've tried several times to go to you (or anyone else's) profile - without success.
I can almost hear this crasging on the shore. Oh how I love to be by water. Pity I have a two hour drive to get to the sea. At least now I have your picture to escape to. Nicley done Late.
