Animals that we eat here in America are being raised and killed in horrible, inhumane ways. Corkie is right, chickens are overfed, TOO much! They are so large due to mega feeding and steroid that their legs can't take it, they hobble a few steps and fall over, and die. People are people. It is against our nature to all be herbivores. We would have more competition with deer and cows and other herbivores over food. It is NECESARRY that us as humans do our job in the balance of nature and the food web. Got a problem with it? Don't eat meat. Go vegan.
I'm sorry if I am sounding mean or pushy, but I'm just trying to get a point across. We NEED to improve our ways of raising and farming beef and chicken. I'd reccomend for you to watch the movie Food Inc. I went to see it at the Naro her where I live, it made me want to make a change.
:D Sorry again if I hurt anyone's feelings or angered you!
True, what Sirsimeon says. How chickens are raised in America is terrible. If you opened up the gate to their corral (or cage), then they'd just fall forward because they are so large from being WAY over fed for food. Back in Ancient India they did things better, where they feed them normally and just pick the plumpest ones.
Slaughter isn't the worst, death is better than what some people do to animals...
People have killed other creatures since forever and other creatures do the same. Pretty difficult to make a carnivore a moral herbivore, against the species nature.
However how the creatures are treated pre-slaughter could be better, but the slaughter will still exist until eternity. It's just how we go about doing it that may improve.
